DinoMITE!
Here is a delicate drawing of a friendly dinosaur strolling through the desert. The illustration Featured in a poetry anthology for children and accompanied a beautiful piece of poetry entitle, ‘What the Dino Saw’. The poem told the story of a young diplodocus who went for a wonder through the desert and all of the wonderful things he saw on his journey.
It was such a charming and sensitive story which I felt had to be reflected in the illustration too. For this reason, I chose to draw the character using a traditional dip pen and ink, rather than digitally, as I felt the naive quality of my freehand work best suited the needs of the brief.
As a child, I was obsessed with dinosaurs and could name them all. I probably still can now if I’m being honest. I always had a soft spot for the lumbering long necked dinosaurs which is why I was so excited by this brief.
