British Beef
This illustration was used to accompany an editorial about the sustainability and quality of British meat products. The article raised many interesting points and certainly made me consider my diet and the source of the produce I eat.
I wanted the butcher in my illustration to look like a traditional British butcher. I decided he should be jolly, jovial and dressed in the iconic striped apron that was associated with the trade. It took a great deal of will power to resist covering his butchery utensils in blood but ultimately, doing this would probably have lowered the tone of the article.
